Lil Boat 2

Lil Yachty a rapper and singer coming out of Atlanta, Georgia. Who is trying to relive his success from his past debut mixtape Lil Boat, which gained him mainstream success with hits such as Minnesota and 1 Night. Also wanted to redeem himself for his debut studio album Teenage Emotions which in my opinion flopped because it didn't do as good as his other projects. With his new project Lil Boat 2 with released on March 9th of this year. Id like to point out that I am not a huge fan of Yachty, but I do enjoy some of his work. Also want to mention a fact that is pretty hard to explain but Lil Yachty has two personas one being Lil Yachty who's the happy singing and lovey type. Then theres his other persona called Lil Boat, a darker version of himself who raps rather then sings and is overall different to his normal self. When you listen to him you'll know who you are listening to either the chill vibes Yachty or the dark, banging Boat. That being said getting to the album itself it came out of no where. I knew he was going to drop something but I didn't know when, as he hadn't release any singles out to promote the album. He didn't drop the track listing until a week before the release, looking at what is in store in the album you see 17 tracks which is not surprising since Yachty's projects are jammed packed with a lot of songs. Seeing at the features we see names such as Ugly God, Trippie Redd, YoungBoy NBA, and the self proclaimed Harvard scholar drop out Lil Pump, along side many more. I gotta say first listening to this album it felt liked it dragged on forever and did not enjoy it. But as I gave it some more listens I got used to the tracks and enjoyed some of the tracks but not all. Some of the tracks that I enjoyed were Count Me In, Love Me Forever, and probably the best track in all this NBAYOUNGBOAT ft. Young Boy NBA. All the rest aren't bad songs they aren't just as good. Especially the Yachty tracks like those were alright like Self Made, She Ready ft. PnB Rock. But the other Boat songs kind of got receptive, theres a point where 3 songs straight it was just too slow pace for me. Like I understand Lil Boats persona is supposed to be slower pace and dark, with slow instrumentals but I just couldn't handle them. Overall its an alright project from Yachty, even though I really couldn't find a hit single coming out if this besides the aforementioned track with YoungBoy NBA. With this bumpy ride that Lil Yachty been on lately I want to see if he can steer his boat in the right path to make some great music in the future.
