On this week album review we will be taking a look at some would say controversial rapper Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, who's professionally known as XXXTentacion. With his recently released album titled "?" which dropped on March 16 of this year. XXXTentacion or X for short is rapper coming out Florida who's had quite some controversy in his past but has had hit songs like "Look At Me!", which gained him mainstream attention. He has dropped several projects throughout the years but we will be looking at his recentest one "?". Getting to the album, there wasn't that much hype towards the release of the album as he didn't release any singles until maybe a week before the album dropping. While although there was a snippet of a song circulating around before the song had actually came out. The song being "SAD!" which was one of the singles he released before dropping the album along side the song "changes". Looking at the track list we see a total of 18 songs, which seems like a lot but looking at the run time of the actual project it comes at around 38 minutes which is really really short for album lengths. But X's albums aren't really long in length as his debut album "17" which released last year had a run time of 22 minutes. Going through the features on the album we see standout appearances by Joey Bada$$, Matt OX, and PnB Rock. Getting to the album itself, now thats the tricky part in my opinion. X is not your average rapper that you can read and understand right away, he clearly has his own sound an alternative sound that is different then his contemporaries. As the 1st track of the album "Instructions" its actual instructions/warnings which gives off some insight on what he wants the listeners to get out of this album. He mentions the fact that how versatile he is, how he wants to open peoples mind. He points the fact of "say less but to say more" which why I understood why the run time was so short. His versatility in his music is what makes it so hard to review, while to me it sounds great but to others who don't understand they might not really enjoy it. I do have to admit, Im not doing the album justice because this album or X's music in general is not easy to critique and understand as it takes time to fully understand his lyrics and sounds. While I wouldn't recommend this album to everyone it is a good listen if you are interested to listen some alternative sound because this album is jam-packed with different flavors in music. Some tracks you get some dark, metal, aggressive rock type sounds like Floor 555, Pain=BESTFRIEND ft. Travis Barker, and Schizophrenia. In other tracks you get to hear the soothing singing voice of X's in songs like "ALONE, Part 3", Moonlight, Changes. Then in tracks like "Infinity (888) ft. Joey Bada$$, where X is dropping bars. Overall this album is pretty good really cant hate on the album except the run time really but thats just a personal opinion.
Didn't know this album came out until you sent it out on snap. XXXtentacion makes good songs when he is not trying to be a metal singer. some of those songs i just cant listen to
