The Black Panther: The Album

First off I'd like to say that this music album is not necessarily a certain artists album but its actually the sound track to the movie Black Panther which released this past week on Friday. When deciding to review this album I wasn't sure if I was able to do a blog on it seen as though its not necessarily what an music album should be but it can be considered one and thats why I wanted to review this album. Getting to the album itself it is a compilation of various artists such as SZA, Travis Scott, ScHoolboy Q, The Weeknd, Vince Staples, and many more. A recurring artist who's almost in every track on the is Kendrick Lamar. Im not the biggest fan of Kendrick, but his appearance on the album is welcomed. Going through the track list its sits at reasonable amount of 14 songs. Even though after going out and watching the actual Black Panther, I was disappointed not all the songs were included in the movie. At least maybe half of the songs were used. I didn't like all of the songs off the album but there were some that were pretty good. The songs that I enjoyed from the album though were Kendrick Lamar ft. SZA - All The Stars, ScHoolboy Q, 2 Chainz, Saudi - X, SOB X RBE - Paramedic! and Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, Future, and James Blake - King's Dead to name a few. An overall theme throughout the album is that at the end of certain songs they instrumental will end off and it would get a bit of tribes vibe where you'd hear tribal instruments. This is noticeable on the track Bloody Waters. I understand why they'd add this to the songs to go with the theme of the movie but I noticed that it would slightly interfere with my listening experience. Overall its not the best album but its an alright listen in my opinion.

  1. This album is not really the movies soundtrack. Its just an album thats inspired by the movie which is why not all the songs are in the movie. I was pretty hurt when I found that out HAHA.
